In 1990, Jacques Kerchache, an art dealer and specialist in African art, meets Jacques Chirac (passionate about the primitive arts) for the creation of a project of primitive Arts.

On June 21, 2016, ten years after its opening, the Quai Branly museum will take the name of the former President Jacques Chirac. It is one of the most visited in the world in its category.
