Auvers-sur-Oise
The Royal castle of Amboise is a medieval fortress, the Royal Residence of Charles VIII and Francis 1st, where Leonardo da Vinci rests.
This landmark of French history has an exceptional collection of furniture, Gothic and Renaissance style that testifies to the artistic refinement of the French Renaissance.
Amboise will also serve as a prison. Nicolas Fouquet (1615-1680), superintendent of finance of Louis XIV, disgraced in 1661, was escorted there by the famous Captain of the Musketeers, D’Artagnan, around (1615-1673). He was imprisoned at Amboise from 4 to 16 December 1661.
